Sunday Series: Wine + food + music

Once again, here are some fabulous tracks and albums to throw on for that next dinner party:

J Dilla "Flowers"

Think: ethereal instrumental acid jazz with intentional breaks. If you don't know J Dilla, you don't know hip hop - he was an iconic producer who emerged in the 90s in the underground hip hop scene. This is just one of his many tracks (you can also find this track used by the Yancey Boys but personally I prefer the instrumental)

Wine pairing: 2014 Ponzi Vineyards Tavola Pinot Noir

Nujabes "Modal Soul"

Think: weightless, feathery instrumental influenced by hip hop and jazz.

Wine Pairing: 2008 Hainle Deep Creek Pinot Noir Reserve

Cormega "Mega Philosophy"

Think: www.hiphopdx.com put it best: a cerebral gem. Simply put, this is an album you'll have on repeat - one of those records you can turn on, sit in silence with friends, and ruminate over his poetry.

Wine Pairing: 1993 Roberta Voerzio Barolo La Serra

I have been growing and juicing my own wheatgrass. I very causally read the growing section of Ann Wigmores's book on growing wheatgrass and that, with my general knowledge of sprouting seeds, I figured out the relatively simple process.
