3 sexy cocktails to impress your friends with

You'll be sure to impress even your most hipster of friends with these cocktails for your next soirée:

Pisco Sour

Pisco is a Peruvian or Chilean grape based spirit, and imparts a nice complexity in this delicious, citrus based beverage.

2 oz Pisco
1 oz lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
Ice

Some recipes call for egg whites but I prefer to omit them for a cleaner, more refreshing finish. Shake over ice, and serve in a coupe.

Mezcal Margarita with chilli salted rim

While mezcal is similar to tequila in that it's agave based, it differs in that the agave is cooked in a different way than tequila. It is cooked in underground oven pits, resulting in a smokier style of spirit which gives interesting and dynamic character to cocktails and drinks it's mixed into.

2 oz mezcal
1 oz lime juice
1/2 oz Triple Sec
1/2 oz simple syrup
Chilli salt
Ice

Shake with the ice, then serve over ice in a rimmed rocks glass with chilli salt (blend salt and chilli flakes together). The depth of flavour is amazing; and with the chilli salt this drink almost feels like a meal.

Spanish 75

This is a twist on the classic French 75; in place of cognac, it uses Brandy de Jerez - a Spanish grape based spirit produced in a similar style to Cognac and Armagnac. However, it is aged differently in the classical solera style southern Spain is known for, especially in sherry production.

3 parts champagne or sparkling wine (Cava would be a good bet in this case)
1 part Brandy de Jerez
1 dash of Angostura bitters
1 dash of simple syrup
Twist of lemon zest

Pour the bitters and simple syrup into a flute, followed by the Brandy de Jerez, topped with bubbles. Garnish with lemon zest.

Enjoy!
