DIVORCE - 10 reasons why it'll be the best thing that's ever happened to you

It's pretty common place now for you to either know someone who's divorced, been divorced multiple times, or know multiple divorced people. It's been de-stigmatized for the most part in our society. There's no reason to stay in sexless, loveless, mediocre, abusive or toxic situations anymore. When you have the freedom to be the architect of your life, why be shackled by fear?
  1. From pain, comes change. When you hit rock bottom, the only direction you can go from there - is up. Let that wound gape, light yourself on fire, moonlight briefly as an alcoholic, and then rise from the ashes. The most authentic and real people I know, have all experienced trauma in some capacity in their lives. Pain builds character.
  2. You don't have to put up with an asshole anymore.
  3. You'll be more empathetic, understanding, and compassionate than ever. Remember when you were married and you looked down your nose at those plebeian single folk, people with smaller houses or lower incomes. You'll go through hell and realize none of that matters. AT ALL.
  4. You can pursue your dreams, fears, goals and weird proclivities without having to answer to anyone.
  5. HO PHASE. Go on, taste that flavour. Date someone 10 years younger than you. Finally figure out if you are actually bi-curious or not. Who cares? We have one life. Get out of that grey scale.
  6. You'll be more motivated than ever to succeed in every capacity in your life.
  7. You'll never accept anything less than being treated like GOLD. You're very well versed in and have rubbed shoulders for way too long with being treated poorly. Time to close that door for good.
  8. You won't take the people closest to you for granted anymore, the ones who picked you up when you couldn't get out of bed that day, or woke up sobbing at 2am, or packed your car for you when you moved out of your marital home because it was too emotional. You'll fiercely know who "your people" are. Cherish them.
  9. You'll become more selective in who you surround yourself with. Life is too short to surround ourselves with people who don't bring value to our lives. Choose carefully.
  10. Peggy Lee put it best in her famous song "Is That All There Is?" - We were so very much in love, then one day he went away, and I thought I'd die........but I didn't - you'll be stronger than ever because you survived, and become an even better version of yourself than you could have imagined.
