Your most important organ...

SKIN!

Whether you're 20, 25, 30 or 45, taking good care of your skin is crucial! I hear it again and again from dermatologists, doctors and nurses - prevention, prevention, prevention.

Here is my daily skin care routine - I'll delve deeper at a later time into the professional treatments I have done, other tools I use (LED light mask, dermarolling, micro current) and supplements I take that in conjunction together, complete my full regime.

AM

Quick rinse with water after I get up and then, apply this all over my face by lightly tapping, not rubbing, it in:

This is a Korean staple in skincare, and I've noticed how much this has helped with redness and keeping my skin moisturized. $49

Warning: this may tingle/sting! Antioxidants are huge in skincare for shielding your skin from external irritants, plus it's also great to layer with your sunscreen. The Ordinary is one of my favourite skincare brands - it's affordable and cruelty free. http://theordinary.com/ $5.80 (disclosure -they sell out quickly and often, so order in multiples so you don't run out!)
I never, ever, ever leave the house without wearing sunscreen, even if it's overcast or raining. This formula is super light and won't cake or pill under makeup. Available at Shopper's Drug Mart. $30

PM

I wish I would have discovered this 10 years ago. Using oil as makeup remover + moisturizer has probably been the best addition to my skincare routine other than sunscreen. I remove my makeup while simultaneously doing face massage (video to come on this). Nothing keeps my skin more acne free or dewy than this! I also use avocado oil, apricot oil (which is also awesome for hair) and rosehip oil and all work wonderfully. www.amazon.ca $10

For cleansing I use a 4% glycolic acid gel formula with my sonic exfoliator (an inexpensive Clarisonic knockoff I found on Amazon that is phenomenal).  I don't do this everyday as I find it can be a bit too hard on my skin - every other day or a few times a day is ample. www.amazon.ca $25, $50 respectively.

I tap this lightly all over my face, it moisturizes and plumps my skin so beautifully. I always put light, water based serums on before anything heavier like a retinol or oil. Again, another favourite from The Ordinary. www.theordinary.com $11.50

The priciest product in my regime - at $150/bottle, it's not inexpensive. However, it works extremely well and lasts a long time. I buy this from my dermatologist as it is a pharmaceutical grade of retinol that you cannot find online or at the drug store. I trade off for more inexpensive alternatives from time to time, but by and large I always come back to this formula due to its potency. If you're not using retinol yet - get on it. It promotes cell turnover and collagen production, keeping those fine lines at bay!

Weekly treatments

This is a super potent anti oxidant formula - again, from the Ordinary that I love! It definitely tingles upon application but my skin the following day always looks dynamite. As it is so strong, I generally only use it 1-2 times a week. I'll swap it out for my retinol when I do. www.theordinary.com $6.80
Not for the faint of heart! This stuff is a very powerful chemical exfoliant and peel. I generally only do this a few times month. And, as it is such a high concentration I only leave it on for 3-4 minutes. The tightening effect days after is incredible, however. Disclosure - you have to use this with baking soda to neutralize, so have lots of cotton pads and your baking soda mixture with water pre-prepared. www.amazon.ca $48

The key to great skin is consistency. Try to use your products a minimum of a few months to really find out whether they'll work for your skin or not. This has been a years long process finding what works for me. So long as I stick to what I know  - I generally don't have issues with breakouts, and, I've noticed such a huge difference in terms of keeping the fine lines at bay and an overall youthful appearance.
